 Start of 2007 Colony Christmas Triathlon

 

 

Ever want to do something a little crazy with a group of friends? Now is your chance!

 

  • Carla will be having a Training Camp for the Eagle River Triathlon. It will start in 2009. The Gold Nugget Triathlon for 2009 is cancelled. However, they will have a duathlon (bike/run event instead).
  • We will also have a Swimming Camp starting early Feb.

 


 

 

Here's info about what we did for the Colony Christmas Triathlon Training Camp. The triathlon already happened, but it gives you a good idea what's involved in the training camp.

 

Join our Triathlon Bound Training Camp for the 2008 Colony Christmas Triathlon. Give us just 10 weeks and we'll get YOU in shape so you can finish without having to be saved by a search and rescue team.

 

 

Course includes

 

  • 10 Week Workout Plan based on your fitness level and number of hours you can train per week. The plan tells you exactly what to do in terms of training for each week.
  • 9 group workouts - swim, bike, run and bike/run training
  • Video reviewing of your swim and run to help improve technique
  • Personal recommendations to get a better time with less effort
  • Repairing a Flat Tire demonstration from Back Country Bicycles
  • New friends and training buddies

 

Cost is $110 for the entire 10 weeks.

 The Colony Christmas Triathlon is held Dec. 14, 2008 in Palmer.

 



If you can’t swim, bike or run well, don’t worry, we can work on that with you. It's common for new triathletes to alternate a jog/walk pattern for the entire race.

Carla’s strength is swimming and she also teaches cycle classes. Her techniques focus on using the core as the powerhouse. Instead of using the arms and legs to propel you forward, she trains you to use the core as your strength. The core muscles have much more stamina than your legs and arms and is the efficient way to train and compete.

This is a group class, meeting once each week, usually Saturday mornings. We’ll meet at various locations depending upon which sport we are focusing on that day.

The Colony Christmas Triathlon is really laid back. Some people even dress in funny costumes or funky hats for the event. It will be held Dec. 14th in Palmer. Distances are: Bike 10K, Run 5K, Swim 500 yards. The clock is stopped after the run and re=started once you have changed and are ready to start the swim.

You can even
enter as a team, having each person do only one of the swim, bike, or run portion of the event.

There are countless stories of people getting in shape while training for a triathlon.
